„Space Art“ ist ein weiter Begriff, von dem eine genaue Definition noch nicht zu erkennen ist. Es lassen sich einige typische Merkmale, bzw. Themen ausmachen, welche in Werken eine Rolle spielen. So listet die Space Art Datenbank http://spacearts.info unter anderen diese Kategorien auf:
