2000 - Arthur Woods: O.U.R.S.
Hier kommt ausnahmsweise ein nicht realisiertes Projekt vor, welches wir trotzdem für bemerkenswert finden.
Im Gegensatz zu "Signature Terre" von Perre Comte und ähnlichen Projekten welche von Satelliten aus sichtbar sind, war hier ein Werk geplant, das als künstlicher Himmelskörper mit freiem Auge von der Erde aus sichtbar sein sollte. Woods plante einen Ring von 1 KM Durchmesser in einen erdnahen Orbit zu bringen, um mit diesem "sichtbaren Kreis am Himmel" die Jahrttausendwende zu feiern.

A "circle in the sky" to celebrate our passage into the new millennium was the message of the O.U.R.S. - Orbiting Unification Ring Satellite project. The circle is perhaps the most ancient and universal symbol of humanity. As such, this symbol speakes to our inter-connectedness with each other, with our planet and with the cosmos ... The O.U.R.S. was designed to become a "global" artwork that was in fact created and supported by people all over the world and one that would have been experienced by much of the world's population as a symbolic sign of planetary unity and peace in the night sky. 1 1) Arthur R.
