2001 - Acoustic Space Lab
Ein internationales Symposium zu Radiowellen und Satellitentechnologie versucht, Medienkünstler, Sozialaktivisten und Radiowissenschaftler zusammenzubringen, um die Kombination von Kunst, Kommunikation und Übertragungstechnologien zu untersuchen.
The symposium Acoustic.Space.Lab was centered around a 32 meter radio telescope - formerly a Soviet military antenna -at Irbene, Latvia and ended with an international streaming event in Riga. Taking off from the experiences and possibilities of the Internet and the notion of an "horizontal radio", i.e. radio as communications-media making full use of its synchronous and asynchronous potential, the symposium Acoustic.Space.Lab investigated the real and metaphorical scope of the past and present of an "Extended Radio"1
Das Radioteleskop wird in diesem Projekt zu einer realen und auch metaphorischen Sende-und Empfangsstation, die Botschaften über Internetstreams und Freie Radios bündelt und ausstrahlt. In den 2000er Jahren erwacht wieder das Interesse am Weltall als elektromagnetischer Raum - und die Sensibilisierung für den freien Umgang mit elektromagnetisch übertragener Information.
