=== What MURSAT1 will be doing === Basically MURSAT1 will be a performer in space (or low earth orbit to be more precise). The following list gives a short description of the planned tasks. * earth imagery (CAM): pictures taken by a CMOS camera will be sent to earth. Imagery can be downloaded via of amateur radio frequency. * impact detection module (IDM): a piezo microphone, connected to the structure of MURSAT1 will be used to detect particles in orbit. Sound generated by the microphone will be recorded an can be downloaded via amateur radio frequency. * step counter (): based on a work by Jupiter Larson MURSAT1 will count certain events. * alien encounter (ANC): a button mounted on the outside of MURSAT1 will carry a label reading "Dear alien! Please press here!". Each time the button is pressed a counter will be incremented, thus counting MURSAT1's encounter with aliens. * fridge light (FRL): via web interface people will get the opportunity to turn a led on the satellite on for a period of 1 to 5 seconds. When each individual task has been terminated the corresponding user will receive a certificate stating when and for how long MURSAT1 turned on the led on the user's request. * empfangende der weltenklänge (EDW): children from Graz will compile a set of recorded wishes to the future. The recordings will be stored on MURSAT1 and orbit earth for the time of the mission. At the end the collection of wishes will end as a bright shooting star that could - if seen by someone - be the trigger for new wishes.
